Boudreaux's Butt Paste
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Boudreaux's Butt Paste. All opinions are 100% mine.
I miss when my kids were little babies. In hindsight, the late-night wakings, feedings, or diaper changes (sometimes all three) weren't so bad after all. Most of all, I miss the smells. Any other mom out there reading this knows exactly what I am talking about! That baby smell (ah...). I miss the mingled smell of baby, baby powder, and even diaper rash cream.
One of my favorite rash creams to use was Boudreaux's Butt Paste. I admit I bought it for the first time simply because of the name on the label LOL. I love how the name gets right to the point of what it's for. Unlike other creams, I actually liked the smell of it. It didn't smell "mediciney". I used it not only when the babies had a rash, but as an everyday diaper area protectant after giving them a bath.
It's pediatrician recommended to provide diaper rash care and prevention. It also goes on and cleans off easily. Since it came in many convenient sizes, I was able to have one for the home, the diaper bag, and for the grandparents' houses as well (this happened by accident because I am always forgetting things and leaving them behind).
If you would like to try Boudreaux's Butt Paste for your own baby, You can go to their website and request a free sample.
Now, spitting up and teething? ... I DO NOT miss those!
Cleaning House as a Workout
So for those days that I feel tempted to blow off my workout because I feel like I don't have time, I try to "workout" while cleaning my house.
I put on my workout clothes and crank up the music on the stereo. Then I make a list of things that need to be done around the house. I also chug a cup of coffee beforehand, but for health reasons I can't recommend anyone else do that ;-) I set my timer for 15 minutes and set to work on the first thing on my list.
The key is to move as quickly as possible. Act as though company's coming over any minute and you have to get the place cleaned up before they arrive. You will be surprised how much can be done before the timer goes off.
When the 15 minutes is over, I stop cleaning and reset the timer for 5 minutes. I spend that 5 minutes doing the exercise of my choice. Jumping jacks, running in place, spinning in circles, doesn't matter as long as it gets the juices flowing.
When the timer goes off again, it's back to the 15 minutes of fast & furious cleaning. I continue that cycle until an hour has past or I run out of housework to do, whichever comes first.
This is a time saver because it kills two things at the same time. It's done indoors, so even if it's snowing outside I can still workout, and have time to snuggle with the family after supper :-)
What do you do to workout during fall/winter?

When Your Children Act Just Like You
Shadow has taken up the hobby of chewing on random things around the house. I don't understand it. He's like a puppy. Maybe he's teething? Maybe he gets lonely and bored when he's left at home alone? His favorite thing to chew up is paper, but cloth and Christmas tinsel are just as good if he can't find anything else. Lately most of the things he is chewing belong to Adreine. This is probably because she leaves things laying around the house more than anyone else in the family. What she believes is discrimination is actually just the law of probability.
We came home this afternoon to find her Honor Roll ribbon on the kitchen floor, with little chew holes and frayed ends. The ribbon was still readable so it wasn't a complete loss. That didn't calm Adreine down though.
Adreine: "SHADOW! Come here!"
I go to the kitchen to cook supper as she carries the cat to her bedroom. A few minutes later, Adam and I hear her talking loudly. We peek into her room to see Shadow on her bed. Adreine is bent over him, cradling his furry face in her hands, nose to nose with her naughty pet.
Adreine: "The next time you find something on the floor and you know it belongs to me, DO. NOT. TOUCH. IT. Do you understand me?"
Do you really think the cat is listening?
Adam and I return to the kitchen, shaking our heads and laughing. We tiptoe back a few minutes later to eavesdrop some more.
Shadow is resting contentedly at the foot of Adreine's bed, watching her intently as she paces back and forth... and continues to lecture him.
Adreine: "I mean, really, it's okay. I'm not that mad about it. I know why you've been doing this. It's because I'm not playing with you enough, and you're trying to get attention. But you have to try to get GOOD attention and not BAD attention. Chewing on all my stuff won't___"
I can't listen any longer. I walk away from her door, laughing uncontrollably. Adam points an accusing finger at me, smiling broadly.
Adam: "She is JUST LIKE YOU!"
The embarrassing thing is I can't deny it.
Ten minutes later, I go into Adreine's room to tell her supper is ready. She is laying across her bed, petting Shadow as he purrs lazily in her lap.
Me: "So you're not mad at the cat anymore for chewing your ribbon?"
Adreine: "No. Shadow and I had a long talk, and I think it's gonna be okay now."
Like I said, my mom got her wish for sure.

Adreine/Adam's Yellow Belt Test

Adreine and Adam are both yellow belts now. Thursday night was so much fun. Here are some photos.

Adreine broke a board.

And so did Adam.

This is Adam and our instructor Chris Holmes. Btw, you can find Epic Martial Arts on the web and on Facebook.
Here is a short video of Adreine's test.
It was hard for me to get good footage of Adam's test because by that time, Jacob was very restless and hard to handle... well, harder than usual!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Jacob's Belt Test

Last night was Jacob's belt test for yellow-stripe belt. If you're a friend of mine in Facebook, then you already know he did very well.

His favorite part was when he broke a board with a front kick.

If you have time to watch a video, check out this highlights video I made.
We are so proud of our little dragon. I know it's hard for a four year old to keep his attention on one thing for very long, but he really is doing very well in martial arts. Check out the photo below. Who can resist that anime hair? LOL!

He and Adam have been spending lots of father-son time together this week. I know Jake is loving it. He is like Adam's little shadow following him around wanting to do everything just like Daddy.
Check back after tomorrow night and see more martial arts because Adreine and Adam are both belt testing that night. I won't be because I'm a bit behind them, but I'll be there to cheer them on :-)

Tom's of Maine - Wicked Fresh!
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Tom's of Maine. All opinions are 100% mine.
As most of you know Adam, the kids, and I have been taking martial arts at the local academy. Even though it's been a few weeks, I still get nervous about being on the mat. I guess it's because of all the people there watching. I also think it's because you sometimes have to trip or throw someone that you barely know. Although the more I get to know my fellow students, the more comfortable I am with that.
One of the things that bothers me the most is being in such close proximity to your opponent(s). If your breath is bad, trust me, they know it right away! I can't think of how long a sparring session would seem when the person across from you could get you to tap by simply breathing on you (eww!).
I try to be considerate to the others by making sure my breath is fresh and clean. One way to do that is by using Tom's Of Maine great tasting Wicked Fresh!™ Mouthwash. It helps stop bad breath without the burn. Their refreshing mint flavors leave your whole mouth feeling clean. And their products are made of natural, environmentally-friendly ingredients.
So rather than being able to win points via wicked smelly breath, I'd rather use wicked skill and agility. Now getting on the mat without makeup on... that's still a work in progress LOL!
Be sure to follow @TomsofMaine on Facebook and/or Twitter, and share your Wicked Fresh moment for a chance to win prizes at That's Wicked Fresh contest page .

Dreaming of a Pier 1 Christmas
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pier 1 Imports. All opinions are 100% mine.
Dear Santa,
I'm dreaming of a perfect Christmas
One that can only come from Pier 1.
With deals on holiday gifts and stocking stuffers,
There's something for everyone!

Candles and nutcrackers,
Table centerpieces and more
Ruffled red stockings,
Now that's my kind of holiday decor!
And when it's time for loved ones to visit
I don't want my table to be plain,
With holiday dinnerware and place mats,
My Yuletide party is sure to entertain!

And let's not forget, Santa
Something just for me
Please place some sweet smelling soaps
Under my Christmas tree

And please give to Toys for Tots
So that all children can be filled with joy
You can donate cash at the register
Or simply give an unwrapped toy
With good deals and Great prices
On gifts and ornaments of all sorts
Give those darling elves a vacation
And just go to Pier 1 Imports!
Hope you enjoyed my poem and if you'd like to spread even more holiday cheer, then click to become a fan of Pier 1 Imports on Facebook. For every new fan, Pier 1 will donate $1.00 to the Toys for Tots.
Happy Holidays!
