If you remember, I had the little green box div'ed within my posts with the text wrapped around it?
When I first placed it, it was earning beautifully. (And I thought it was cute) I soon found out, however, that it was interferring with my sponsored posts' approval. But I still felt it was worth the inconvenience as long as it was earning its keep.
Within a month, however, I noticed the ad box displaying ads that were completely irrelevant to the content of my posts. It made no sense at all. It's earnings also plummeted :-(
I feel there's no point in displaying ads that do not interest readers and make no sense in the post's subject or context. So I decided this morning to kill the little green box for now.
Instead, I opted for a strip banner below my header. It's less intrusive that way anyhow... I always try to design my blog based on what I would want to see (or not see) if I were visiting and reading someone else's blog myself.
What is your strategy for placing ads on your blog or website?

Interesting! I did not even know you could place an ad box like that within a post?! I may have to try that on one of my blogs.....but could you tell me how to do it. hehe??
For my blogs, I place ads usually on the sidebars and under the header, like you have now. I do not make much from my ads...but I keep on trying!
Well the AdSense ads appearing depends on the wordings of your post and happens automatically (Google's bot algorithm). Sometimes they are relevant, sometimes they aren't.
As for it interfering with your sponsored post, what I do is create a new category for sponsored posts alone and then add a code only to display the AdSense ads if the post is not under the category X (where X is the sponsored posts category).
It's WordPress though..not sure whether you can do it in Blogger..
Hi Vickie.
I am still new in blogging, adsense sound like a good way to earn something from my blog.
@Irene - It was a booger to get it right, but then I'm not very web coding savvy (Thats why I use Blogger and not Wordpress). Here is where I read how to do it: http://www.solidblogger.com/show-adsense-ads-inside-blogger-posts-wrapped-with-post-text/
P.S. I don't make much from mine either, but it's better than nothing at all ;-)
@Michael - Thats what stinks about Blogger format is the lack of customizations for those of us who don't know how to do it. I admit Blogger has improved a lot, but we still don't have nearly as many options as wordpress with all the handy plug-ins. I googled like crazy for a way to turn the adsense off for selected posts, but I haven't found a solution yet.
@Zezebel - Adsense is super easy to add to your blog if you use Blogger. Just go to your dashboard/design/layout, then click to add a gadget. Scroll down and you should find adsense in the most popular gadget list. From there, it will redirect you to set up your google adsense account.
The best thing to do is to make trial and error but I admit that wordpress is better in tweaking the ads but you have to pay for webhosting every month. What is good there is that there is a plugin about adsense that will display relevant ads in your post.
