Master Cleanse Fast

Lately I have had what seems like a summer cold. Started out as a scratchy throat and stuffy nose. Then came a cough and chest congestion. I thought it was allergies and blamed it on the cat.

I tried allergy meds. Didn't help. I tried decongestants. They helped some but only for a few hours at most.

It's been about 2 weeks and the chest congestion won't clear out. My last remedy before going to the doctor is natural herbal.

I've begun a regime of the Master Cleanse. It's based in a book by Stanley Burroughs, and it's worked for me before. Most of the hype about it mentions weight loss, but the Cleanse's real purpose is healing.

The recipe is:

3 tablespoons 100% pure maple syrup

3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

8 oz fresh water

As much cayenne pepper as is comfortable

The syrup contains sugar and minerals. The lemon juice has vitamin C and enzymes. The cayenne breaks up mucus and increases the metabolism to kickstart the body's healing processes. You drink as much as you like (no food) for 10 days. You also drink herbal tea before bed and sea salt water in the morning.

At least, that's the plan. You can Google for a more detailed explanation of it.

I just hope to be congestion-free in 10 days. I'll keep you posted on it.

@ Lisa - When I tried the Cleanse for the first time I was surprised by how good I felt. I expected to be hungry, dizzy, weak, etc. But on the contrary, I actually felt good. The book explains how the lemonade provides your body when all the necessary nutrients.

The hunger you do feel is more like missing the ritual of mealtimes than wanting to chew your arm off.

@ Raven - Thanks for the link, hun. I've wondered how to change that ugly orange "B" up there. I will check it out.
