Making Plans for Halloween

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. It's one of the only holidays that I haven't grown out of. I dress in costume with the kids every year, and will continue to even after they are grown up.

We usually begin thinking about our costumes in the summer. I admit that for the past few years, we haven't gone as "all-out" as we like to. But I plan to change all of that this year!

The kids have been addicted to the Wii all summer, so their costume choices don't surprise me a bit. Their favorite video game is Super Mario Galaxy. Adreine wants to dress as Rosalina - Queen of the Cosmos.

Jacob wants to dress as the great and timeless Mario himself.

Jacob's costume will be super easy. It's all about finding him the right colored clothes and a fake mustache. I will probably even add some fake sideburns just to make it funnier. Adreine's costume will be much more difficult to pull off. It seems that Rosalina costumes aren't in big demand. My plan is to make what I can from home and purchase the rest from eBay.

I can't wait to show all of you how their costumes turn out and how much fun we will have! We plan to help some friends set up a spook house in their home, go to a grown-up scary haunted house, cook tasty treats, and carve so many jack-o-lanterns that you will be able to see our house from the coast from all the candles!

I will also tell you what I plan for my costume to be. But that's a different blog altogether...

So have you thought about this year's costumes for you and your kids yet?

oh my...Halloween already? I am impressed! We usually start thinking about Halloween and costumes sometime in September. Maybe I will be motivated now to start earlier!

I thought we could get some pumpkins and carve them while we watch scary movies. Then I was going to get cookie mix, cutters. and stuff to decorate halloween cookies. But I need something cheap and fun! What could we do if we're staying in for Halloween?
