Let's see, what's changed in the past year? For one thing, he has grown much taller. I noticed that he is still shorter than Adreine was at the same age, but his growth jumps in bigger strides. I have always measured both my kids' height each year on their bedroom doorframe. The gaps between ages are bigger in Jacob's growth than in Adreine's. This means that at some point, Jacob's height with surpass his sister's and he will be taller than her. But for now, he's still the short guy in the family.
His vocabulary has expanded immensely. My mother in law says he is the only kid his age she has ever heard to properly use the word "actually" without even thinking about it. I'm not trying to get into a brag-fest about my children's IQ, but being able to express themselves verbally has never been a problem in our household. Sometimes that's not always a good thing! You see, neither of them know any other voice volume than full-blast. There are no quiet 'inside voices' around here. Both of our youngsters are very loud, opinionated, brutally honest, and outspoken. On the upside though, they are very charming, adorable, and never fail to make Adam & I laugh everyday.
Jacob is also now old enough that he can hang out with his Daddy in the garage when he works on vehicles, builds things, or does other things that Jacob calls "man stuff". This stage means a lot to Adam. He is waiting for the time when he can begin teaching his son how to change a tire, build a fence, and scratch his butt like all real men do.
We celebrated his birthday July 4th weekend while Adam was home. Unfortunately my phone battery was dead that day (the bane of iPhone. Battery life stinks) so I wasn't able to get any pictures.
He's still a Thomas the Tank Engine fan, so we gave him some new trains and a new bigger bike.

You can look in the background and see who needs a new bike next lol. Adreine looks like a cricket!
Thanks for reading and celebrating with happy thoughts for Jacob today. Being a parent is an outstanding privilege, and we should enjoy each and every moment.
Until tomorrow...
