Adam took Jacob into town to do father/son activities, one of which included having his hair cut. Have any of you noticed Jacob's hair lately? It's looking pretty shaggy these days. He doesn't really like to have his hair cut, so I try to wait until Adam is around to give him some manly encouragement.
It didn't work this time. Adam called me on the phone from the mall.
Adam: "Our son is refusing to let this lady cut his hair. You talk to him." (hands the phone to Jacob)
Jacob (cheerfully): "Hi, Mommy!"
Me: "Hi, Baby. Daddy says you don't want your hair cut."
Jacob: "Not today, no,"
Me: "Why not?"
Jacob: "Because I don't need it."
Me: "Jacob, we talked about this, honey, you DO need a haircut. Don't you want your hair trimmed so it won't be in your face?"
Jacob: "No I don't. Fank you, though!"
Throughout this conversation, his voice is so annoyingly cheerful, he knows I have no chance of winning this one.
I resort to begging: "Jacob, honey, please let the lady cut your hair, for Mommy, please..."
Jacob (still cheerful and smiling) "No fanks, Mommy, I'm fine!"
He gives the phone back to Adam.
Adam: "I don't want to force him, because then he will cry and fight and he won't be still for a haircut anyway. What do I do?"
Me: "Just let him have his way. Don't force him."
Jacob wins. For now...
