We were heading home after picking my kids up from school. Adreine asks one of those random questions that only 6-year-olds can think of.
Adreine: "Mommy, is 'zat' a word?"
Me: "No."
Adreine: "Well my teacher said that anytime you have two consonants with a vowel in the middle, it's a word."
Me: "Well, if 'zat' is a word, I have no idea what it means."
We rode on in silence while Adreine was thinking hard. Suddenly, her face lit up in a smile.
Adreine: "I know what it means! 'Zat' is 'that' in french! Like in the sentence, 'Zat eez a good idea'.
I didn't get around to correcting her, I was too busy laughing.
