It just occurred to me that I've never done a blog about my cell phone. That loved piece of machinery that I use so much, is a staple of my daily life. It's my alarm clock, my social media connection, and my camera. I text with it, write blogs on it, and snap photos/videos of the kids.
I know the 'it' phone lately is the iphone. I checked one out on display at Walmart. It is very impressive. I think it might be great to have one, but I really do love my Blackjack! I know it's not as pretty as some of the newer phones out there (ok, I'll be honest, it's ugly), but it has some great advantages for me.
I love the convenience of a full keyboard. With the Windows Mobile operating system, it has a very 'computer' feel to it. I have learned to type very fast on it. I burn through about 2400+ text messages a month. I don't have a data plan for it (yet, tee hee...) but I have used mobile internet on pay per use on occasion and my phone does very well for checking email and browsing the web. If I'm in a spot with a 3G signal, the speed is phenomenal! The camera is probably the most used feature for me. Most all the pictures and videos you see on my site was taken with my phone. The SD card has enough space that I can take pictures for months without running out of room. Good thing too, because I sometimes go weeks without syncing.
Because it uses Windows Mobile, there's no software to install when I'm ready to move pics, vids, etc from my phone to my computer. The files show up in the folder as if you'd plugged in an external or a USB flash drive. I have even installed apps on my phone. I had to do this to have wordpad so I can type blogs anywhere. When I get ready to post all I have to do is either plug in, copy, & paste or I can text it to google and have it post automatically (the text part takes longer though).
I use my phone so much that it brings me to the one thing I don't like about my phone. It drinks battery juice like a fish! You'd think this wouldn't be a problem since I have a car charger in the truck and an extra battery. Problem is, I can never remember to plug it in. I'm side-tracked until the warning screen flashes, then I'm like, "Oh crap!" trying to find the wall charger quickly. Lucky for me, it charges slightly when plugged in to a USB port.
So while I think the iphone is beautiful, I would worry whether or not it would live up to my expectations. My AT&T contract is up in Sept 09. And I am drooling over the new Jack (with a data plan this time).
So what do you use your cell phone for the most? What do you like best about it?
